Technical Engineer

Summary: Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.

May be involved in customer installation and training. Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.

As a Technical Support Engineer within VIAVI’s Fiber Optic Lab Services team, you will play a critical role in delivering high‑quality technical support and services to a global customer base. This position provides a unique opportunity to work with advanced fiber optic test platforms while contributing to the growth and evolution of VIAVI’s services business.

This role combines hands‑on technical work with customer engagement, including support, calibration, installation, and training activities. You will develop deep product and service expertise while directly impacting customer satisfaction and business success.

We are seeking a motivated individual with hands‑on fiber optic experience who is either currently in, or looking to transition into, a customer‑facing role. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, organizational skills, and a passion for solving complex customer challenges in diverse environments.
