Multilingual Learners | Interpreter​/Translator - Temporary

MUST BE PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH AND AT LEAST ONE OTHER LANGUAGE

This position is a temporary position; as-needed basis only.

Provide oral interpreting and written translation services for language minority students and their families. Serve as a liaison between language minority families, FWCS, schools, and personnel.

The employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. They may be occasionally required to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking  incumbent will be required to lift, carry and/or push students weighing 25 pounds or more in wheelchairs as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school. Must possess knowledge of the general aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field. Must be proficient in English and at least one other language. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

College degree, training in the field of translation and interpreting, recognized certification in translation and/or interpreting; preferably candidates with two years experience in translation and/or interpreting, and experience working with students or families in a social services or educational environment.
