Application Technician - Wire Harness Manufacturing
The Application Technician will support engineering and production teams in the development, assembly, testing, and validation of wire harnesses used in manufacturing applications. This role is responsible for interpreting customer requirements, preparing documentation, supporting prototype builds, and ensuring manufacturability and quality of wire harness products. The Application Technician will act as a bridge between design, production, and quality to ensure robust, efficient, and cost-effective wire harness manufacturing.

- Assist in the development, prototyping, and testing of wire harness assemblies in alignment with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and assembly documentation to support harness build and troubleshooting.
- Support tooling, fixtures, and application setup required for harness assembly and validation.
- Perform hands‑on assembly, crimping, soldering, and termination for prototype and production harnesses.
- Assist with documentation preparation, including work instructions, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly guides.
- Conduct functional and continuity testing on wire harnesses to ensure quality and compliance.
- Identify and troubleshoot process issues or design concerns, providing feedback to engineering.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) principles are applied.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards (IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, UL, SAE, ISO) and apply them to daily work.
- Provide technical support for process improvements, new product introductions, and customer‑specific applications.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field;
Bachelor’s preferred. - 2–5 years of experience in wire harness manufacturing, applications, or related technical role.
- Hands‑on experience with crimping, soldering, terminating, and harness assembly tools.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 preferred).
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic CAD tools (AutoCAD, Solid Works Electrical, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
- Accurate and timely support of prototype and production harness builds.
- Reduced assembly errors and rework through clear documentation and application support.
- Improved manufacturability and efficiency of harness designs.
- Compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Positive collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to enable smooth project execution.
