Tool Room Technician
Job Description Summary
Operate and setup tool room machinery in accordance to AAM guidelines.
Read and interprets blueprints and diagrams as required for machine settings and adjustments.
Replace tooling as required. Verify accuracy of machined parts after machine setup to ensure machine is ready for production.
Job Description
- Capable of basic setups through complete processing of advanced forge press tooling components using the following:
- CNC Turning centers.
- CNC Milling Machines
- Manual Lathes
- Manual Surface grinders
- CMM
- Recognize tool paths by interpreting the program (G and M codes).
- Troubleshoot daily problems through root cause analysis techniques as they occur.
- Coordinate & implement engineering changes.
- Participate in continuous improvement processes.
- Implements safety and good housekeeping standards.
- Adhere to Corporate policies and procedures.
- Train associates on machining operation and standards.
- Ability to work side by side with outside vendors and internal stakeholders to reduce tooling cost.
- Maintain knowledge and skill to Setup Technician skills matrix.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follow all proper internal tooling procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of all tool repairs and changes.
- Review tool breakage and assist in finding solutions.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Organize and maintain tool inventories.
Required Skills and Education
- Minimum 1 to 3 years work experience in setting up and the operation of CNC lathes and mills.
- Ability to complete mathematical computations.
- Ability to read and edit CNC Programs.
- Experience using measurement equipment (Calipers, micrometers, indicators).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and have good problem-solving skills.
- GED or High school diploma Required.
- Journeyman’s Card or similar certification preferred.
