Join Byron Health Center as a Nursing Supervisor, providing clinical leadership and ensuring exceptional care during your designated shift.

Description

We’re looking for a nursing SUPER HERO! If you have excellent clinical skills, value team relationships and resident engagement, and seek both professional and personal growth, this is the role for you. The Nursing Supervisor supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in delivering efficient and effective nursing care, ensuring compliance with policies, implementing care models, mentoring staff, and maintaining resident and family satisfaction.

Schedule

Tuesday thru Friday, every other weekend and holiday on call. Flexible 10‑hour shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain adequate nursing coverage for 24/7 safe care
  • Participate in staff recruitment, including interviewing and selecting nursing personnel
  • Assess staff work performance relative to job description, neighborhood standards of care, and individual goals
  • Assist with Performance Improvement Plans for staff whose performance does not meet expectations, and recommend or initiate disciplinary action when necessary
  • Recommend and facilitate promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide timely, effective care consistent with residents’ needs, choices, and preferences
  • Respond to emergencies throughout the shift (e.g., change of condition, IV initiation, pronouncement of death)
  • Foster a strong partnership between the medical staff and the nursing department
  • Recommend nursing care equipment and supplies to the Director of Nursing and ensure adequate supplies are available
  • Promote a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment
  • Participate in meetings to address resident care, survey, and/or standards of care issues as requested
Clinical Leadership
  • Work with the DON to plan, organize, direct, and implement a comprehensive house‑wide nursing program
  • Provide nursing leadership to meet the goals of Byron Health Center
  • Ensure resident care assignments are consistent with staff competencies, scope of practice, and resident needs
  • Create an environment that is respectful, team‑oriented, and responsive to staff, residents, and families
  • Complete rounds on neighborhoods to observe residents and determine if nursing needs are being met
  • Provide resident care when required
  • Monitor nursing care to ensure positive clinical outcomes and minimize re‑hospitalizations
  • Ensure Point Click Care (PCC) is utilized according to Business Processes
  • Encourage communication between licensed nursing staff and CNAs during and between shifts
  • Encourage shift‑to‑shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff
  • Contact attending physicians to obtain orders as indicated (e.g., admission, change in condition)
  • Ensure Physician Orders are followed as prescribed
  • Ensure residents’ attending physicians and families or responsible parties are promptly notified of significant changes in patient health status
  • Facilitate discharge planning and provide consultation as needed
  • Investigate patient/family complaints and take appropriate actions to resolve them
  • Identify educational needs of staff and communicate them to the DON and Education Coordinator
  • Participate in evaluating staff competency
  • Assist with orientation of newly hired nursing staff
  • Demonstrate, teach, and evaluate nursing skills used in direct resident care of the neighborhood’s specific patient population
  • Promote professional development and career opportunities for nursing staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times
  • Stay and work beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and/or residents’ needs
