Position: Camp Counselor - Salomon Farm (Seasonal)

Camp Counselor – Salomon Farm

Love outdoors, kids, and hands-on learning? Gain valuable leadership, teaching, and program management experience while making summer camp unforgettable!

What You'll Do

Lead campers in fun, educational, and safe activities, assist with farm chores and outdoor exploration, support staff and volunteers, and engage parents and visitors. Help bring Salomon Farm Camp to life with creativity, energy, and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide groups of campers in games, crafts, hikes, farm chores, and bubble machine activities
  • Assist with cleanup, maintenance, and setup of camp facilities and supplies
  • Lead outdoor exploration, creek walks, and experiential learning programs
  • Track attendance, report incidents, and communicate with parents and supervisors
  • Help plan weekly schedules, activities, and special events, including River Camp
What You Bring – Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education preferred but not required
  • Childcare, teaching, or camp experience preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable hiking 3–5 miles/day and working outdoors in all weather
Preferred Certifications
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED (American Heart Association) within 2 weeks of hire
  • Valid Indiana driver's license if using City vehicles
  • Preventing Disease Transmission training
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about natural history, Indiana farming history, Salomon Farm, and gardening
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations involving people, animals, equipment, and nature
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, rules, and standardized processes
