Position OverviewThe Supplier Quality Specialist is responsible for non‑conformance technician collecting, inspecting, and processing suspect non‑conforming material to ensure they meet company standards. Key responsibilities include performing quality checks, interpreting engineering drawings, managing internal and external non‑conforming materials, and communicating with suppliers via email and in‑person.
Essential Functions- Material management – Handle non‑conforming material, which includes identifying, quarantining, and returning products to the supplier. This will require coordination with suppliers and/or purchasing for Return Material Authorization numbers and shipping. Also scrapping internally damaged materials using OBMS database.
- Documentation and reporting – Enter all non‑conforming material into OBMS database and disposition accordingly in EQMS. Provide periodic reports of defects.
- Inspections – Conduct internal and incoming inspections of parts and materials to ensure they meet drawing specifications. Use of measuring equipment such as precision calipers may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interactions with suppliers and internal departments.
- Organization – Able to keep material in various stages of disposition organized.
- Computer skills – Experience with Microsoft Office, data entry, and quality management systems with strong record‑keeping skills.
- Technical skills – Proficiency with precision measuring tools, such as calipers.
- Analytical skills – Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Collaboration – Work with internal teams, including production, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and purchasing team.
- Problem‑solving – Support supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and assist in root‑cause analysis for quality issues.
- Knowledge of 5S and safety standards.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
Physical RequirementsLift up to 25 lbs up to 25% of shift.
Travel Requirements0% – 10%.
Other RequirementsMust be available to work overtime and work a flexible schedule.
Pay Range$20 – $28 per hour (exact base pay will vary). Working ConditionsThe employee is frequently standing, constantly walking, pushing/pulling, reaching, and climbing stairs. The employee occasionally squats, kneels, and uses fine hand movements. Specific vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Environmental demands include working both indoors and outdoors and being seasonally exposed to extreme temperatures.
