Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Security and Information Officer is responsible for monitoring and securing all public areas throughout the building and around the perimeter to ensure the safety of employees and visitors to the building. This position is not covered as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Monitors and secures all hallways and public areas throughout the building
- Monitors security checkpoints throughout the building and around the perimeter of the building.
- Ensures the safety and security of employees during operating hours and confirms the building is secured every evening.
- Observes and monitors the general public entering and exiting the building and surrounding areas.
- Reports any suspicious activity to the Allen County/Fort Wayne City Policy and/or the Operations Manager.
- Prepares detailed incident reports and promptly reports incidents to the Operations Manager.
- Validates approved County employee parking and submits documentation to the Operations Manager.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year experience in security or law enforcement preferred
- Knowledge and ability to apply evidence collection and preservation techniques
- Ability to deal with potentially violent individuals in precarious situations with swiftness, rationality and authoritative action
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all County and City information
- Ability to use a 2-way radio
- Ability to become certified in CPR/AED and First Aid
The Security and Information Officer maintains frequent contact with the public and other County and City employees.
WORKING CONDITIONS:The Security and Information Officer performs work that requires frequent standing and sitting, with some walking and the ability to move about freely. Some lifting of up to twenty pounds, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, typing, attention to detail, monitoring of equipment, detailed inspection and proofreading exist. The Security and Information Officer is sometimes exposed to dangerous equipment, extreme temperatures, chemicals and noise.

LICENSING:Valid CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:Operations Manager
HOURS:Hours vary; 20-28 hours/week
