Ada Software Engineer II, Onsite

Overview

Raytheon seeks a Software Development Engineer II focused on complex Ada systems in Fort Wayne, IN. The role demands on‑site presence and a DoD Secret clearance. Candidates will join the Patriot Software Development Team and have the potential to lead a software task force.

• Design, develop, and maintain Ada software for complex systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency.
• Write and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture and design specifications.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold coding standards and best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends, especially in emerging technologies related to complex systems.
• Light travel and off‑hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) may occasionally be required.
• Position may grow into a Software Task Leadership role.

• Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing complex systems using Ada.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Active and transferable Secret clearance required prior to start.

• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles in high‑concurrency distributed systems.
• Experience with C/C++, Java or other object‑oriented languages.
• Experience with multithreading, memory management, or performance optimization in complex environments.

Salary range: $66,000 – $130,000 USD. RTX offers performance‑based incentive programs where applicable.
