Our client, a well-established heavy engineering business based in Fort William, is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their site engineering team. This is a key role with strong leadership responsibility, focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement within a COMAH-regulated environment.
The Role
This position would suit a multi-skilled engineer with either a mechanical or electrical biasorwho is comfortable leading people, driving safe systems of work, and contributing to site reliability and maintenance strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental standards
Leading thorough investigation of accidents and incidents, implementing robust corrective actions
Issuing clear, safety-focused instructions and ensuring full compliance
Supporting and delivering wider HSEQ activities as required by the business
Ensuring all written isolation procedures are followed, including multiple energy isolation points
Managing and developing trade and apprentice engineers within your area
Contributing to and leading the weekly maintenance schedule using CMMS and site information centres
Identifying and responding to new or changing engineering standards and legislation
Driving a reliability-focused culture across the maintenance function
Leading site reliability and improvement projects using recognised lean principles
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong engineering maintenance background in a heavy engineering or industrial environment
Mechanical or Electrical bias with multi-skilled capability
Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
HNC or above in an engineering discipline (or demonstrable experience with willingness to undertake further study)
Experience of industrial-scale process plant operations and maintenance
Understanding of relevant engineering standards, codes of practice and procedures
COMAH site experience highly desirable
