Tunnelling Project Manager

Salary To £115k + Benefits   An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced  Tunnelling Project Manager  to join a major infrastructure and energy development in the Scottish Highlands. This is a key leadership role on a nationally significant civil engineering project, offering the chance to manage complex underground works from planning through to delivery.

The Role   You will be responsible for leading all tunnelling activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and within budget. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership while maintaining the highest standards of quality and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities    Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of tunnelling works.
Manage contractors, specialist subcontractors, and engineering teams.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Oversee programme, cost, risk, and resource management for underground works.
Provide technical guidance on tunnelling methodology, ground conditions, and construction sequencing.
Monitor progress and resolve technical and operational challenges.
Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement and best practice throughout project delivery.
About You    Extensive experience managing major tunnelling projects within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
A  solid tunnelling background  with proven expertise in underground construction methods and project delivery.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and project controls.
Experience managing project programmes, budgets, and commercial performance.
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Chartered status (or working towards) is desirable.
