Our Treatment Solutions team is seeking an Engineering Resource Planner to join our Inverness team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the allocation of engineering resources and skills across RSEs project portfolio. Acting as a key link between Project Management and Engineering Leadership, you will provide clear, up-to-date visibility of resource availability, commitments, and any emerging gaps or conflicts.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting our Design, Engineering, Production and Delivery Teams by coordinating project resource planning in collaboration with the Design, Delivery, Commissioning and Commercial teams. Reporting directly to Senior Management, you will help ensure engineering resources are effectively planned and aligned with project requirements, priorities and delivery objectives.
Some of Your Key
Duties Include:
Developing resource programmes to inform Tenders which are cost-loaded and logic-driven, showing the dependencies between activities and having the deliverables and milestone dates explicitly identified.
Build and maintain resource plans across engineering disciplines (mechanical, process, civils, electrical, commissioning, structural, design and production), aligned to the project delivery schedule.
Provide detailed resource extracts from master programmes to the Design, Engineering, Production & Delivery Teams.
Incorporate Contractor, Sub-contractor, Supplier and any third-party programmes into our overall programme.
Monitor, track and regularly update progress and status of resource programmes.
Keep projects on track by identifying critical activities and evaluating remedial actions to help resolve constraints.
Identify resourcing gaps, clashes and over-commitments early, and propose practical options to resolve them.
Track utilisation, availability and the skills matrix for the engineering team, keeping planning tools current and accurate.
Develop and maintain regular resourcing reports and dashboards for engineering and project leadership.
Maintain and improve the resource planning tools and processes used across the engineering department.
Attend project and engineering review meetings to keep resource plans grounded in real project status.
What Do You Need?
Demonstrable resource planning experience within similar engineering environments
Proficient in Programming software packages Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Initiative and ability to work alone and as part of a team
Ability to develop and recommend alternative approaches to improve resource planning
Ability to work under pressure and against tight time deadlines to achieve on-time delivery
Experience in preparing and coordinating detailed resource plans encompassing design, engineering, construction, installation and commissioning
A working understanding of engineering project life cycles, from tender through design to delivery.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with engineers, delivery managers and senior leaders.
A methodical, analytical approach and good attention to detail.
