We are on the brink of a very exciting time in NHS Highland at Fort William and are looking for a committed and innovative surgeon to join us on this journey. We are in the process of designing and building a new in-patient facility in Fort William to replace our current 32 bedded hospital. You can be part of developing this unit into a hospital for the future.
LocationFort William is the outdoor capital of the UK and offers unparalleled opportunities for outdoor leisure pursuits, stunning scenery and wildlife, low levels of crime and good schools in a friendly and supportive community all within two hour drive of Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Current FacilitiesThe current hospital has a 17 bedded Combined Assessment Unit for acute admissions, a two bedded high dependency unit with facility for short-term ventilation and a 12 bedded acute mixed/rehabilitation ward. The Belford has an excellent on-site laboratory service providing basic biochemistry, haematology and cross match services 24/7 in addition to on site radiology with ultrasound scanning and CT facility.
Key Responsibilities- Broad general surgical experience
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills, and the ability to work flexibly as part of an integrated team
- Encouragement to develop special interests as part of a network with specialists in Highland
- Active interest in teaching and support of our team of specialist nurses along with undergraduate students and junior doctors
- Integral role in the day to day running of the hospital

Professional RequirementsYou will be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a License to Practice or be within six months of obtaining CCT in General Medicine at time of interview.
