Project Accountant – Construction
Location:
DFW Metroplex, TX (On-site / Project-Based) Compensation: $90,000 – $105,000
Employment Type:

As a Project Accountant , you are a key partner to our Project Managers, acting as the financial "source of truth" for some of the most complex construction projects in the country. What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities)- Budgeting: Ensure original budgets and contract values are correct in the accounting software.
- Data Analysis: Analyze and evaluate project data and metrics to track and report project progress. Compare actuals to budgets and investigate variances.
- Forecasting: Support in forecasting activities in preparation for monthly cost to complete meetings and analysis of variances; and assure that all documentation is given to accounting to verify accounting is updated to current forecasts.
- Communication: Communicate project status and regular project updates to management.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive project reports to assist management in decision-making.
- Coordination: Assist in coordinating the efforts of various team members to ensure successful project completion.
- Conduct Internal Audits: Perform audits to ensure cost accuracy and adherence to financial regulations.
- AR and AP: Reconcile Project receivables and payables. Support accounting in processing and proper coding.
- Post-Project Evaluation: Conduct post-project evaluation to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Support: Provide documentation required for any external/internal audits. Sustain all documentation and reporting for any other requirements from other sources.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance , or a related business field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of accounting experience, specifically within Commercial Construction
. - Technical Excellence: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g.,
Sage or Coins is a plus ). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. - Soft Skills: A "field-first" mentality with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial project teams.
- Annual salary range of $90,000 – $115,000 (depending on experience) + performance bonuses.
- Clear trajectory toward Senior Project Accountant or Controller roles.
