An Economic Development Manager position is available with the City of Fort Worth Economic Development Department. The department is dedicated to pursuing high-wage job growth and fostering a sustainable tax base that drives less on residential property valuation and more on commercial and industrial investment, with a strong commitment to “quality of place” throughout the community.

This position will oversee the Revitalization division of the Economic Development Department to include oversight of initiatives that encourage public and private investment in the City of Fort Worth’s revitalization target areas, urban villages, and tax increment reinvestment zones. Responsibilities include program planning, policy implementation, compliance monitoring, and resource coordination to developers and neighborhoods have access to the tools, funding, and technical support necessary for success.

The Economic Development Manager will collaborate across city departments, state and federal agencies, and community partners to advance equitable economic development and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and funding requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economic Development, Urban Planning, or a related field
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, government programs, community development, real estate development, or public administration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economic Development, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or a related field
  • Current or in-progress Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP), AICP, or similar certification
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, government programs, community development, real estate development, or public administration
  • Strong knowledge of government regulations, procurement policies, and compliance standards
  • Strong knowledge of economic development principles, redevelopment tools, public–private partnerships, and community revitalization strategies
  • Demonstrated managing revitalization districts, such as downtowns, main streets, corridor strategies, or targeted reinvestment areas
  • Demonstrated experience with real estate development, redevelopment feasibility, or public‑private partnership structuring
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws to program administration.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with program tracking databases preferred
  • Experience working with stakeholder engagement, especially in historically underserved or economically distressed neighborhoods
  • Experience working with tax increment reinvestment zones or tax increment financing districts
  • Demonstrated experience creating revitalization plans, corridor strategies, or small business support initiatives
