Traveling Safety Manager - CHST Required

As a Sr. Site Safety Manager, you will provide support to the Project Staff and the Concrete Strategies safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. This will include assisting in development of a zero injury safety culture, conducting at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, effectively communicating orientations for all new project workers, assisting with and reviewing subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis, actively promoting and participating in daily stretch and flex program, identifying project trends and executing proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents, supporting corporate goals and initiatives, emphasizing and supporting proactive safety such as near miss/hazard reporting, coaching and recognizing workers on safe work methods, reporting all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols, and championing safety motivation.

CHST Certification Required

Responsibilities
  • Assist in development of the project safety program.
  • Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees.
  • Administer and record orientation participation and issue identification.
  • Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractors to define roles within the safety program.
  • Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives.
  • Conduct regular weekly safety meetings with subcontractors and project staff.
  • Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure standards comply with OSHA/Concrete Strategies federal and state standards.
  • Maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
  • Review each subcontractor's safety program to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure each subcontractor designates a trained safety representative.
  • Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete safety checklists.
  • Notify and prepare written reports of violations or unsafe practices.
  • Stop at once any violation or unsafe act or practice.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent in implementing fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
  • Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
  • Maintain all required safety records.
  • Conduct monthly overview safety meetings and attend project staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Education/

    Experience:
    • B.S. in Safety and Health or equivalent.
    • At least four years of safety experience or a combination of education and multiple years experience in building construction with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and techniques.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and intercultural communication skills is preferred.
  • CHST certification required.
  • Computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions Physical requirements:
  • Requires physical ability to climb stairs, use hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk to electrical shock.
