We are looking for an editor/writer/leader who can cover sports (mostly high school) for our Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People newspapers, plus a joint website, and a weekly Sports Spotlight newsletter. Reporting to the editor, this role ensures that sports content is timely, accurate, and engaging for readers.

For a monthly stipend of $1,450, this journalist is expected to cover Scots football games, arrange for coverage of other games and schools, produce a couple of football preview sections each year, write five (500-word) features a month for print, make multiple weekly online posts to the website, and manage other freelancers, who take photographs and cover competitions the sports editor cannot.

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (extensive experience considered in lieu of a degree)
• At least two years of experience covering sports for a news organization
• Strong editorial judgment and meticulous attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with online publishing and social media
• Familiarity with the Park Cities and Preston Hollow markets (preferred)
• Proficiency with Word Press (preferred)
