Position Details:This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.
The TCU School of Art invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art of the Ancient Americas and Colonial Latin America. We seek a scholar whose research engages with the art, architecture, and visual cultures of Mexico, Central America, and/or South America. Scholars whose research spans across ancient and colonial periods are especially encouraged. The position comes with annual research funding.
The candidate will be expected to actively participate in TCU’s close relationship with museums in the area, in particular the Kimbell Art Museum, but also the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and museums in Dallas. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Art History, and upper division courses and graduate seminars in their area of specialization;
maintain active research agenda; contribute to departmental and university service; advise graduate and undergraduate students.
TCU’s School of Art is a NASAD-accredited program that offers the B.A. and M.A. in Art History, as well as the B.A., B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Studio Art and the B.F.A. in Art Education. The “museum experience” makes the TCU Art History program distinctive. The art history faculty maintains a close working relationship with the art museums in the area, especially the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Dallas Museum of Art, and Sid Richardson Museum.
Centering on the art object, the program allows students to expand their knowledge of the historical, stylistic, and theoretical dimensions of the visual arts, while having the invaluable experience of engaging directly with art objects.

The TCU College of Fine Arts is home to six academic units: the School of Art, the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, the School of Music, the Department of Design, the Department of Fashion Merchandising, and the Department of Theatre. We offer 33 undergraduate degree programs and 24 advanced degree programs to prepare the next generation of creative leaders in the arts.
Students in the College of Fine Arts study with renowned professors and guest artists, annually present more than 350 public performances, and regularly present art, design, and research in juried exhibitions and competitions.
