Hourly Rate
No Degree/90+ college hours - $22.00/hr
No Degree/60-89 college hours - $19.00/hr
No Degree/30-59 college hours - $16.00/hr
No Degree/less than 30 college hours - $13.00/hr
This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon availability of funds.
BTAP participants work up to 14.5 hours per week
Hours to be worked depend upon school placement and assignment.
Employment does not guarantee a minimum number of work hours.
Participants are placed according to individual areas of expertise.
Participants must adhere to BTAP Program guidelines published in the BTAP Handbook.
Position Purpose
The goal of the Bilingual Teacher Assistant Program (BTAP) is to increase the number of high need teachers in the Fort Worth ISD by encouraging bilingual individuals to pursue and acquire teaching credentials in elementary Bilingual education. BTAPs will be placed in Dual Language Immersion classrooms in all phases of the educational process and give students the opportunity for maximum development and growth through suitable learning activities.
Upon graduation from college, the BTAP student will be eligible to teach for Fort Worth ISD as a Bilingual educator in a high needs setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans, organizes, manages, and implements instructional activities under the direction and guidance of the teacher
- Translates and interprets for students and parents/guardians in English and Spanish.
- Assists in lesson plan development.
- Assists with record keeping.
- Monitors children and reports progress to teacher.
- Attends all BTAP trainings.
- Attends in-service, team, and faculty meetings when requested by administrator.
- Conducts individualized and small group instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Maintains strict confidence pertaining to students or school personnel regarding privileged information.
- Accepts change and adapts to assigned duties
- Maintains professional standards in conduct, dress, language and punctuality.
- Approves weekly hours worked in Kronos and submits time sheets to BTAP Coordinator for verification.
- Must maintain a 3.0 semester GPA to be in good standing with BTAP.
- Assist students with assignments
- Performs other instructional duties as assigned.
- Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
