Audio & Lighting Technician job at Multipurpose Arena Fort Worth

Dickies Arena is seeking an Audio and Lighting Technician to provide management and support of our main public address audio system, concourse audio system and portable audio systems as well as our main bowl lighting, specialty theatrical lighting system and network-controlled concourse lighting systems. This includes the maintenance and operation of these systems as well as the training of part-time staff in the execution of key systems during live events.

The successful candidate will be expected to address a wide range of technologies and functions.

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining the Front of House audio components including the audio console, routing equipment, amplifiers and cabinets
  • Training part-time staff in proper execution of audio systems during live events
  • Inventory and maintenance of the small portable audio systems
  • Ability to perform maintenance and repair of concourse audio and back of house audio systems
  • Knowledge of network connected audio systems, Madi, Dante, AVB
  • Basic knowledge of live music engineering and setup
  • Basic knowledge of audio signal flow, gain structure and management
  • Maintaining lighting console and broadcast lighting system
  • Training of part-time staff in proper execution of the broadcast lighting system and theatrical lighting systems
  • Basic knowledge of DMX programming and signal flow, experience with Artnet or sACN preferred
  • Prior experience with Crestron, AMX, BSS or QSYS programming preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of networking and communication of audio and lighting over the network
  • Understanding network cabling standards and construction or terminating cables
  • Other duties as assigned may include assisting video production team with camera setups, teardown or basic operation, AV setups, assisting with network and phone line install or other department needs across the AV/IT/Broadcast Department

  • The preferred candidate will:
  • Have experience prior experience with live events.
  • Have experience with programming or control systems.
  • Have experience with basic repair and be mechanically inclined.
  • Be able to work; days, evenings and/or weekends as required.
  • Possess an outgoing personality suited to providing exceptional customer service, solving problems, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
  • Work well under high pressure situations.
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Dante level I & II Certification, Pro Tools, QLabs certification, experience in rigging, basic stage setup, light programming, design or stage sets, live theatre experience
  • Supervisory Responsibility

    The role is expected to interface and communicate problems, solutions, plans and other information with peers, managers, contractors, and other external people in the course of fulfilling the job duties. In the absence of the Technical Services Manager this role will supervise the Part Time Event Day Staff.

    Physical demands

    While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees during events. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information.

    Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. As business, maintenance, operations or emergency situations require, employee may sporadically assist in lifting/moving 100 lbs. or more. This role will be required to complete a lift certification course and must be comfortable completing tasks at elevated positions both from catwalk, ladders and mechanical lifts.
