OverviewAt Jacobs, we transform ideas into innovative solutions for cities, environments, and critical systems. As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you will design and lead the implementation of low‑voltage systems (structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, etc.) for data center buildings.
Responsibilities- Conduct preliminary assessments and concept creation.
- Perform internal and external problem resolution.
- Create drawings and specifications.
- Ensure customer and vendor accessibility.
- Act as the Engineering Officer of Record (EoR) for designs.
- Provide coverage for project leads and, when bandwidth allows, lead projects.
- Lead BIM designers in preparing engineering drawings.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
- Mentor other team members.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify processes to improve departmental efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Communications, or related engineering from an ABET accredited college.
- Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
- In‑depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 as it applies to telecommunications systems.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Strong project management and self‑motivation skills.
- Experience responding to RFPs.
- Experience in quality assurance and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
- Ability to create budgets, schedules, and mitigate risks.
- PE license and the ability to obtain multiple PE licenses (required).
- 4+ years of telecommunications design experience in data centers.
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, AV, wireless).
- Knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design platforms.
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control and security systems.
- Experience writing CSI or AIA specifications.
- Credential as an RCDD.
