Continuous Improvement Engineer – Butler Aerospace & Defense

Pay Range: $48‑67 Hourly Rate (12‑Month Contract)
Job Summary: The Continuous Improvement Engineer drives continuous improvement initiatives across office‑based processes, systems, and workflows. This role champions Lean principles, facilitates Kaizen events, and partners with cross‑functional teams to reduce waste, improve efficiency, enhance quality, and support a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and passionate about helping teams work smarter.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate, and facilitate Kaizen events, workshops, and improvement projects within engineering and certification functions.
- Conduct root cause analyses to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and implement standardized work procedures, templates, and documentation to ensure consistent performance.
- Monitor and validate the effectiveness of implemented changes, ensuring sustainability of improvements.
- Coach teams on problem‑solving techniques and support them in implementing their ideas.
- Collect and analyze performance metrics to measure improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and workflow performance.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards summarizing project outcomes, cost savings, and KPIs.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and results of Kaizen activities to management and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or similar certification.
- Experience with continuous improvement, Lean principles, or process optimization in an office or administrative setting.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and usage of CI tools (Value Stream Mapping, Causal Analysis, 5 Whys, PDCA, SIPOC, etc.).
- Experience facilitating training sessions or workshops.
- Familiarity with product life cycle management tools such as Enovia.
- Demonstrated success in leading process improvement projects with measurable results.
