Description
The Assistant Commissioning Engineer supports the execution of commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy-related tasks for complex buildings and systems across various markets, including correctional, federal, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, laboratory, higher education, and commercial buildings.
- Assists with preparing commissioning plans, specifications and checklists based on Burns & McDonnell standards
- Assists with reviewing designs, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs for commissioning plans
- Assists with training operation and maintenance personnel to review operating modes, sequence of operations and specifics of equipment, operations, and maintenance of commissioning plans
- Apply basic knowledge to document commissioning results and performance shortfalls. Collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to recommend remedial measures
- Assists with planning, scheduling, and performing work for small to mid-size projects and supports project teams for large projects and programs
- Assists with the development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of an evolving commissioning practice
- Participate in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
- Involvement on campus or in the community preferred
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program Required
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam Required
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience Preferred
- Basic knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Understanding of site safety procedures, including electrical safety
- Experience with different types of stand-alone monitoring equipment including flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others a plus
- Understanding and familiarity with DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, and other modeling software a plus
- Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification Preferred
