The MV-75 Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bell's MV-75 FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sun setting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. This position is onsite in Fort Worth, TX and will work at both Headquarters and the SIL in Arlington TX at the Flight Research Center.
Manager, Mission Systems - Sensors & Situational Awareness TeamThe Bell V-280 Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Program has an opportunity available for a manager of our Sensors & Situational Awareness (SA) team within the FLRAA Mission Systems organization. The Sensors & SA Manager is responsible for the design, development, integration, procurement, and test of an integrated sensor suite. These sensor systems play an important role in aiding the pilot to fly the aircraft and execute the mission.
Responsibilities- Overseeing the development of an architecture that includes strategic initiatives like Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Working closely with cross functional teams such as systems engineering, human factors, cyber security, and safety.
- Managing and coaching Mission Systems engineers to ensure an engaged and skilled team responsible for design implementation and integration; requirements management; systems and component specifications; interface management; system safety assessment; validation and verification testing in systems integration labs; and aircraft flight test.
- Leading the team through all phases of development from pre and detailed design, qualification, integration testing, flight test, and production.
- Technical evaluation of suppliers and managing subcontracts including SOW, Specifications, ICDs, RFPs, and schedules. Managing suppliers through all phases of development, integration and test.
- Working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to define cross-functional interfaces and conduct aircraft-level trade studies as designs move from concept to production.
- Managing and providing status updates on IPT Schedule, Cost Estimates, Risks, and staffing requirements.
- Interface with end users and customers including pilots, U.S government representatives and airworthiness authorities.
- Experience with avionics integration and the processes required to combine individual components into an effective overall system.
- Experience with supplier management and project management.
- Previous leadership experience guiding teams of engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. Advanced degrees may be considered as additional experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in aircraft system/sub-system development and integration.
- At least 2 years of Technical Leadership experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Experience with electro-optical or infrared sensors used in applications such as reconnaissance, situational awareness, or targeting.
- Experience with analysis and flight test activities used to validate the safety and effectiveness of sensor and imaging systems when installed on aircraft.
- Experience with the use of sensor systems to aid flight in degraded visual environments (DVE).
- Experience with helmet mounted displays used to provide heads-up eyes-out situational awareness.
