The F-35 program is a large, international program involving design, manufacturing, operation, and sustainment of the F-35 air system around the globe utilizing a network of suppliers, co-producers, and sustainment service providers to support both foreign and domestic customers. The F-35 Export Control & Compliance (ECC) team is seeking a candidate who can apply engineering techniques, analytical methods, and critical thinking to represent F-35 Centralized Specialty Engineering in determining and gathering export/import commodity jurisdictions so that the F-35 Line of Business (LOB) can obtain, implement, and maintain export authorizations.
The candidate must be driven to learn and explore new areas, enjoy being part of a team, and think strategically and creatively with proven analytical problem‑solving skills. The F-35 J&C Engineer will engage across nearly all levels of the F-35 LOB organizations; therefore, the successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with leadership, project engineers, program managers, and personnel from disciplines across the F-35 LOB (e.g., engineering, production, sustainment).
The role requires the ability to work in a dynamic, multi‑disciplinary team environment and familiarity with the application of export authorizations in the defense industry.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be a US citizen.
Responsibilities- J&C engineer executes technical processes of determining the export classification (USML or CCL) of F-35 aircraft hardware, which is a critical enabler for export/import of shippable parts and tooling for F-35 Development, Production, and Sustainment business units.
- Coordinates with other engineering SMEs, supply chain management, and/or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to understand hardware: form, fit, function, and any other system‑related knowledge required to perform the J&C determination.
- Collaborates with ECC Export Portfolio Lead and other ECC team members and stakeholders on work assignments/projects.
- Works with internal and external export authorization customers, users, and stakeholders in developing the required export authorization coverage for air system deliverables.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while managing multiple tasks/priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated experience with military customers and execution of complex program activities.
- Understanding of International Export/Import Laws and Regulations (e.g., ITAR/EAR).
- Willing to learn new information and horizontally integrate with disciplines outside of their own to work through complex issues.
- Experience with JSF Data Library (JDL), Product Data Manager (PDM), Logistics Data Manager (LDM), Advanced Technical Logistics Application System (ATLAS), Parts Classification & Management system (PCM).
- Project Management and/or Systems Engineering Experience.
- Current DoD security clearance.
- Detail‑oriented.
- High degree of discernment.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US citizen for consideration.

Onsite Full‑time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
