Are you a mechanical engineer with some CAD design experience looking for a role which combines component design with hands on engineering?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer with a small, well-rounded engineering team, minimal red tape, and plenty of autonomy. You’ll have the freedom to troubleshoot, modernize, and improve equipment, with the opportunity to progress technically or potentially move into management longer term.
Following the retirement of a long-standing engineer with over 30 years of experience, the company is investing in major machinery rebuilds and modernization projects focused on improving efficiency and developing its manufacturing lines. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of equipment improvements and make a direct impact on the facility.
You’ll work across mechanical equipment, with exposure to electrical systems and controls, collaborate with outside vendors on major rebuilds and upgrades, and help modernize existing machinery and automation. The role is primarily focused on troubleshooting and manufacturing support, with some minor design changes to machine components.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who values autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to become a key technical resource.
The Role:- Troubleshoot industrial machinery, identify root causes of failures, and improve equipment reliability
- Support machinery rebuilds, installations, upgrades, and commissioning
- Work with vendors and outside companies on major equipment projects
- Make minor design changes to machine components and assemblies
- Support preventative maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives
- Monday-Friday with flexible hours; occasional travel to other US locations (1-2 times per year)
- Hands-on experience with industrial machinery, equipment maintenance, machinery reliability, or machine design
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Knowledge of bearings, shafting, power transmission, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies
- Some experience with minor machine design or equipment modifications
- Exposure to electrical systems or controls is advantageous
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- An engineering degree is preferred but not essential with relevant experience
