Game designer for Adult Visual Novels

Octo Games is an international game development studio that creates commercial games for the Steam audience, focusing on Adult Visual Novels and story-driven games. Since 2017, it has released more than 200 projects and built an international audience.

• Write, maintain, and regularly update game design documentation
• Design, configure, and balance core and supporting gameplay mechanics
• Create clear specifications and communicate design requirements to developers
• Oversee gameplay feature implementation and ensure features work as intended
• Work with the narrative designer to connect mechanics with the story, characters, and pacing
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create clear, intuitive, and consistent player interactions
• Work with 2D and 3D artists to align gameplay features with the project’s visual direction
• Review implemented features, identify design issues, and provide feedback
• Maintain consistency between the original design vision and the final in-game result
• Own gameplay features from initial concept through implementation and final review

• At least 1 year of experience working on midcore projects, ideally PC or Adult titles
• Basic practical experience with Unity
• Understanding of fundamental game design principles and a professional approach to player experience design
• Understanding of clear, intuitive, and user-friendly interface design principles
• Ability to evaluate and maintain the product’s visual quality and consistency
• Experience collaborating with developers, UI artists, narrative designers, and other team members
• Ability to take gameplay features from the initial idea and task definition through full implementation
• Responsible, engaged in the development process, and comfortable working on 18+ projects
