Under the direction of senior staff and lab management the Junior Embryologist / Embryologist will work diligently to develop embryology/andrology skills and competencies. This role participates in the daily operation of the human IVF and andrology laboratories, with hands-on clinical IVF laboratory duties as directed. The Junior Embryologist / Embryologist works in a collaborative relationship with IVF Laboratory leaders and other team members.
The role requires a focus on patient service, maintenance of high technical standards, and provision of resources to support Ovation Fertility. The position maintains CLIA and CAP standards regarding quality control/quality management, procedural guidelines and day-to-day duties of the IVF laboratory.
We are currently seeking a full-time Junior Embryologist / Embryologist to join our Fort Worth, TX team. This position is on-site and the schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, with rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities- Undertake embryology laboratory procedures as directed
- Attention to detail with awareness of the sensitive and confidential nature of ART treatment
- Comply with HIPAA privacy regulations
- Training in latest technologies including, but not limited to trophectoderm biopsy, oocyte vitrification, and complex micromanipulation skills
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of reproductive biology including the male and female reproductive system
- Demonstrate excellent clinical skills and ability to lead and work in a team
- Handle oocytes, embryos and semen including hazardous specimens
- Maintain aseptic techniques
- Assess and grade oocyte, embryo and sperm morphology
- Perform clerical tasks diligently and follow established protocols and laboratory guidelines
- Meticulous data entry into computer databases and software programs
- Maintain detailed patient logs and laboratory reports
- Communicate detailed information to patients, staff and regulatory bodies
- Develop and coordinate clinical research projects
- Develop and complete research projects that are publishable
- Support manuscript preparation and editing
- Support CAP inspection preparedness and inspections
- Aim to obtain additional competency certification by the American Board of Bioanalysis
- Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with staff, physicians and patients
- Participate in Continuing Technical Improvement exercises
- Maintain technical proficiency in routine laboratory procedures
- Assist in analyses of data related to laboratory performance and research projects
- Perform all IVF procedures, including medium and dish preparation, egg retrieval, sperm preparation, fertilization checks, embryo evaluation, cryopreservation and thawing, transfer, ICSI and assisted hatching; trophectoderm biopsy experience is preferred
- Perform all andrology services, including semen sample preparation, cryopreservation, and complete sperm analysis per WHO standards
- Perform QC/QA/QI activities, record keeping and data collection
- Participate in research on oocytes cryopreservation, oocyte maturation, PGT and related areas
- Other duties as assigned and in line with company policies and continuous improvement
- Perform daily embryology tasks and reporting, including set-ups, egg retrievals, ICSI-IVF, embryo development checks, transfers, cryopreservation, and related procedures
- Process semen specimens for artificial insemination/IVF-ICSI and cryopreservation
- Maintain, organize, and file patient results with complete records and physician signatures; verify results on ART Summary sheets in EMR
- Maintain quality control records on materials in the IVF lab
- Ensure all procedures have consent on file
- Communicate with physicians regarding daily IVF/ICSI and embryo development outcomes
- Perform quality assurance and preventative maintenance
- Maintain, clean and disinfect the IVF Lab and equipment
- Coordinate daily procedure scheduling with nurses
- Work with the Lab supervisor to maintain ART records for SART
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors Degree in Biology or related field
- 2+ years of experience, with demonstrated competence in embryology lab duties
- Artisan and Matcher experience is a plus
- Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
- Ability to work independently
