Job Summary and QualificationsPerform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing. Transport, process, and perform clerical duties as necessary for testing on patient samples.
Reports to:
Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager and Laboratory Director.
- You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
- You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
- You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
- You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments
- You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
- HR diploma or GED required
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience
- Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred
- Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire
Medical City Fort Worth is a 350+ bed full-service Magnet Designated hospital. It is located in the heart of the medical district. Medical City Fort Worth serves as a tertiary referral center for Tarrant County and many counties within a 90 mile radius. We offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services. Our specialties include cardiac care, neurosciences and oncology. We have surgical services, orthopedics, kidney transplants and emergency care.
