Patient Care Technician III

Envision Imaging is adding a Full‑Time Patient Care Technician III to the team at our Southwest Fort Worth office. Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Position pay range $21.17 – $25.50.

Summary/Objective

The Patient Care Technician III (PCT III) is dedicated to ensuring patients experience exceptional care while in our center. The PCT III assists the technologist through smooth patient transitions, engages with patients about exam expectations and wait times, prepares patients for exam contrast, initiates IV as needed, provides medical attention for contrast reactions under radiologist guidance, and conducts the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist’s final review.

The PCT III performs advanced clinical screening interviews for technologist review, contacts referring provider offices to obtain updated orders, clarifies orders, and determines when a new order is required. The PCT III ensures patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam’s scheduled date, requests and validates the patient’s prior reports and images, and ensures the clinical review is conducted in a timely manner prior to the patient’s exam.

Miscellaneous duties include stocking changing rooms, tech supplies, and other clinical support tasks.

Essential Functions

• Performs detailed clinical screening of patients for technologist review and informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.
• Assists patients in securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.
• If qualified, initiates IV for contrast studies, provides medical attention for contrast reactions under radiologist guidance, monitors completion, retrieves lab values, and uses working knowledge of normal ranges to facilitate efficient patient flow.
• Prepares room and non‑sterile trays as needed to assist technologists and radiologist.
• Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.
• Supports technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.
• Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors), obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.
• Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation, sending images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.
• Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and clarify orders when needed.
• Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• One plus year of administrative experience in a healthcare environment – radiology preferred.
• Experience placing IVs is highly preferred and able to provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist.
• Detail oriented, self‑motivated, a problem solver and a team player.
• Ability to excel in a very fast‑pace team environment.
• Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectations.

Education/Certifications

• Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED) – continuing education preferred.
• Active CPR certification.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic, and/or EMT training is preferred.
