For more information on our organization, please visit our website The Office Assistant provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the office. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment. The Office Assistant is a key team player who supports various departments, manages office communications, and helps maintain a productive workplace.

The Eligibility Specialist coordinates SSA/SSI payments and maintains active Medicaid benefits for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Monitors individual enrollments to assure that the proper agencies, Social Security, HHSC, and VA have been notified and all applications are complete for benefits.
  • Monitor and process Tracking Report to ensure all proper moves are reported to SSA and HHSC as needed.
  • Assists in monitoring trust fund accounts to assure appropriate balances are within resource guidelines.
  • Responds to inquiries from Area office locations regarding current issues for Individual's Medicaid and/or Social Security benefits.
  • Provide excellent customer service to Area personnel to always ensure open communication.
  • Works with SSA and HHCS to establish and maintain Medicaid and SSI benefits, reports wages to SSA for individuals we serve.
  • Completes reports, reviews, etc. received from SSA and HHCS for all individuals to maintain eligibility.
  • Monitors denied claims list, follows up with HHSC and SSA on all open cases, and update denied claim notes.
  • Scan and electronically save all work submitted and/or received from SSA or HHSC.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years verifying individual benefits; governmental office experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICF, MEPD, HCS waivers Medicaid preferred
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a professional environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Proficient in office equipment operation including fax, copier.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook
  • Typing 40 WPM
  • Ten-key by touch
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access
