We are seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Coordinator to serve as a second-level CDI reviewer and clinical subject matter expert. This role is responsible for managing CDI work queues, conducting post-coding/pre-bill clinical reviews, evaluating audit recommendations, determining query validity, and supporting the CDI team with complex clinical documentation, coding, and procedure-coding questions.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a clinical subject matter expert, mentor, and resource for CDI, Coding, and Quality teams.
- Perform second-level clinical reviews for high-impact targeted metrics, including targeted DRGs, DRG mismatches, compliance, and CDI quality.
- Conduct post-coding/pre-bill reviews and evaluate medical records for documentation and coding opportunities.
- Minimum 3 years of acute hospital-based Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience
. - Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license
. - Current CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) or CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) certification.
- Strong knowledge of CDI guidelines, coding principles, Coding Clinic guidance, compliant query practices, and clinical documentation requirements
. - Demonstrated experience with second-level CDI reviews, query validation, and complex clinical documentation issues.
- Strong understanding of DRGs, CDI quality, compliance, and clinical documentation-related metrics.
