HR/Recruitment
Regulatory Compliance Specialist
The Role
We’re growing our People, Talent & Culture team and adding a Human Resources Business Partner to support leaders across the company. This role is not about handling every employee issue yourself. It’s about equipping managers to lead better: bringing HR in earlier, documenting correctly, resolving issues faster and working within a clear, consistent people-management system. You’ll spend real time in our branches and shops, because that’s where the work happens.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Serve as the primary HR advisor to leaders across functions, branches and entities on people decisions, risk and team performance
- Review terminations and corrective actions before they happen, for consistency, documentation, protected activity, leave and accommodation, and legal risk
- Guide employee relations matters from intake through resolution, partnering with ER and HR Operations on investigations
- Coach managers through difficult conversations and decisions instead of taking those conversations over
- Lead a regular people-review cadence with business leaders covering headcount, turnover, new hires, ER activity and decisions needed
- Use people data, such as turnover by branch, role, manager and tenure, time-to-fill and retention, to spot risk and drive manager action
- Partner with Talent Acquisition on technician hiring and retention, including new-hire check-ins
- Partner with Learning & Development to set manager training priorities
- Visit branches and shops regularly to understand the work firsthand
- Help design and scale an HRBP model built for a growing, multi-entity organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in an HRBP or generalist role advising managers
- Strong employee relations and investigations experience, with sound judgment on employment law and risk
- Experience supporting field, service, skilled-trades or multi-location work forces
- Comfort using HR data to make a case and to hold managers accountable to it
- Credibility with frontline employees and senior leaders alike
- Ability to travel regularly to branch locations
- SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR
- Experience with Paycom
- Background in material handling, equipment dealership, industrial or manufacturing environments
- Travel up to 20%, including driving to and between multiple Shoppa’s branch and shop locations
- Valid driver’s license required
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting, with regular time in shop, warehouse and yard environments during branch visits
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
- Standing and walking in shop, warehouse and yard areas, including on uneven surfaces
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, such as files, training materials and equipment
- In shop and field areas, exposure to moderate-to-loud noise, outdoor temperatures and weather, and moving equipment, including forklifts
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety rules in shop and field areas
