Job Summary

The Sr. Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing expert-level technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for a variety of complex IT systems and equipment at customer sites. This role ensures high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery and effective problem resolution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of hardware and software across diverse IT environments, including servers, storage, networking devices, and other peripherals.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues on-site at customer locations, often under time-sensitive conditions, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime for customer infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to end-users and junior technical staff on system operation and best practices.
  • Document all service activities, including problem descriptions, resolutions, and configurations, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., sales, support, engineering) to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage parts inventory, logistics, and return merchandise authorization (RMA) processes for service-related components.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while performing on-site service.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, identifying potential service enhancements or solutions.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required to provide 24/7 support for critical customer issues.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a field service engineering role, preferably supporting enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing server hardware (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo), storage area networks (SANs), and network devices (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
  • Strong understanding of operating systems including Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, CCNA, MCSE, ITIL) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer sites, often with short notice, and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple service calls and documentation.
