Job Summary
The BCP Lead Technician is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of compact construction equipment and related components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works as a leader of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals, including establishing production goals, supervising, training, and evaluating service employees to ensure work supports the department’s objectives.
BCP Lead Technician positionGenerally has more than 6 years of experience and/or demonstrated job‑relevant knowledge and skills. A Lead Technician has broad knowledge of the field’s standards, technical concepts, practices, and procedures, relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks, is self‑starting, and requires no supervision.
Essential Functions- Monitors physical requirements for work completion (facilities, tools, environmental) and communicates them to supervisor.
- Models and reinforces company policies/practices to ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and values and collaborates with other Holt functions.
- Achieves labor sales and utilization expectations as set by supervisor/manager to meet team revenue targets.
- Performs job duties of a Service Supervisor during periods of absence.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures.
- Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks.
- Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling.
- Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components.
- Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management.
- Plans and controls cost of repair jobs.
- Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return.
- Provides significant task and behavior‑oriented supervision, mentoring, and training to others.
- Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition.
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficient with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
- Quality control analysis skills – Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings.
- Operation and control skills – Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Equipment selection skills – Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane.
- Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or vehicle to the exact position.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
- Ability to read, write, and understand information.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Owns a large and complete assortment of appropriate hand tools and may have some specialized tools.
- More than 6 years of work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Some travel may be expected for this position.
- Must be able to move objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
