Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct daily care and services to residents in accordance with their care plans, supervision, and facility policies. This position ensures residents receive quality personal care and comfort while maintaining dignity, respect, and privacy at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Resident Care
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, nail care (excluding diabetics), shaving, and hair care.
  • Provide toileting assistance, perineal care, catheter care, bowel and bladder support, and incontinent care.
  • Change linens, keep residents clean and dry, and maintain a neat environment.
  • Assist with mobility — transferring, repositioning, walking, lifting, turning, and using assistive devices as needed.
  • Prepare residents for tests, therapy, examinations, meals, and activities.
  • Collect vital signs, weights, TPRs, and intake/output as instructed.
  • Dining & Nutrition Support
  • Prepare residents for meals, assist with feeding, and ensure proper hydration.
  • Serve and retrieve meal trays, snacks, and beverages.
  • Record food and fluid intake and report changes in eating patterns.
  • Maintain clean water pitchers and remove food waste after meals.
  • Safety, Reporting & Documentation
  • Document care accurately using approved notation.
  • Report changes in condition, incidents, injuries, and skin concerns promptly.
  • Assist with post‑mortem care and end‑of‑life comfort measures as instructed.
  • Follow all infection‑control procedures, safety policies, and universal precautions.
  • Attend in‑services, training, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
  • High school education (10th grade minimum accepted).
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English — written, verbal, and comprehension.
  • Patient, compassionate, positive, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Must be able to handle emotional stress and challenging situations with calmness and dignity.
  • Primarily indoor work with frequent resident interaction and interruptions.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids and infectious materials; PPE compliance required.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays, or extended hours as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, repositioning, and transferring.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50+ lbs when needed.
  • Must be able to assist in resident evacuation and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Must tolerate physically and emotionally demanding work at times.
