Court Security Officer – Constellis
Join Constellis as a Court Security Officer (CSO) providing protective services at Federal Court Houses under contract to the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS). The CSO works under limited supervision from a Lead CSO and District Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Enforce the District entry and identification system.
- Test and report emergency equipment.
- Patrol court facilities and grounds per post orders.
- Man authorized stationary posts.
- Provide focused surveillance on incoming traffic to detect threats.
- Escort judges, court personnel, jurors, and designated individuals.
- Secure off‑site and remote judicial functions.
- Direct traffic, control lights, and monitor vehicles and pedestrians as described in post orders.
- Provide courtroom security during hearings.
- Turn over any found articles to the COR and complete CSO‑003 within 24 hours.
- Inform supervisors of unusual occurrences per post orders.
- Monitor alarms, radio traffic, and other information sources; dispatch or inform others as authorized.
- Address fire alarms, burglary alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts.
- Screen and inspect vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting the facility per post orders.
- Use equipment issued or available per rules.
- Prevent prohibited articles from entering or leaving the facility.
- Escort individuals or vehicles according to post orders.
- Maintain licensing, certifications, training, and records for legal employment.
- Use portable radios, phones, or other communication devices per established rules.
- Monitor all equipment; guard against loss or damage; report immediately to a supervisor.
- Perform work regardless of weather conditions.
- Log Property Pass numbers for authorized property/equipment movements.
- Secure government property and detain personnel using the mantrap when needed.
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities.
- Issue required badges or passes to authorized personnel.
- Monitor electronic access control and report violations.
- Monitor RFID systems and respond to alarms indicating unauthorized removal of government property.
- Grant access during non‑working hours per procedure and access lists.
- Monitor equipment and utility systems; report deficiencies.
- Perform random surveillance of buildings and fence line for unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
- Provide additional security support for scheduled events and unscheduled emergencies as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain activity logs and administrative documents per contract.
- Assist and cooperate with local, state, or federal law enforcement; locate, retain and protect evidence; testify as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Minimum three years of verifiable civilian law enforcement experience or an equivalent US military law enforcement position, with general arrest authority, occurring within the last seven years.
- Graduated from a certified federal, state, county, local or military law enforcement training academy or program that provided instruction on the use of police powers in an armed capacity while dealing with the public.
- Completed a pre‑placement screening, including criminal background check, financial institutions/credit bureau check, and Freedom of Information Act disclosure.
- Pass criminal background screen, drug test, and physical exam.
- Valid, unrestricted state driver’s license (except eye‑glasses wear).
- Fluently read, speak, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English.
- Meet medical/physical fitness requirements.
- No felony conviction.
- No misdemeanor domestic violence conviction per US Code Title 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9).
