Overview

A leading regional network services provider is searching for a skilled and service-oriented Field Network Engineer to support mission-critical connectivity for its growing commercial customer base. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges in the field, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service. This role is perfect for a candidate who wants variety in their workday, craves autonomy, and enjoys working directly with both equipment and end users.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability of internet, voice, wireless, and security services across business clients. With direct impact on business operations and a highly collaborative internal team, this is a visible and high-impact role with room to grow.

Location & Schedule

Hybrid – Based in Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, TX (Travel throughout the area required). Schedule requires on-call weekends as needed for outages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch directly from home to commercial client sites to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, VoIP, and networking issues.
  • Address 2–3 daily support tickets related to fiber optics, wireless radios, and customer hardware, using a company-provided service vehicle fully equipped with necessary tools.
  • Collaborate with senior network engineers on escalations and handle weekend on-call support for outages as needed.
  • Perform installations, repairs, and testing across a range of technologies, including fiber splicing, VoIP systems, security cameras, and access control hardware.
  • Program and configure network devices and firewalls from various manufacturers such as Ubiquiti, Cisco, and others.
  • Document support efforts and customer outcomes within internal ticketing systems and provide basic end-user training during site visits.
  • Ensure safety and compliance standards while performing physical tasks, including use of ladders and work on rooftops when needed.
Technical Requirements
  • 3–7 years of hands-on experience in a network or field service role within an ISP, telecom, or MSP environment.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and configuration: VPN, VLANs, IP addressing/subnetting, DNS, STP.
  • Experience working with Ubiquiti radios and other wireless platforms.
  • Proficiency in fiber and copper-based installations, including splicing and structured cabling.
  • Familiarity with VoIP telephony systems and network-connected security infrastructure (cameras, access control, paging).
  • Skilled with DC power concepts, including voltage testing and polarity checks.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting across a wide range of equipment and network configurations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
