SummaryEnsures safety first, along with safe lifting of the load, proper set‑up of crane, while maintaining customer focus. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicles and all safety and environmental policies while performing the job tasks.
Responsibilities- At the end of each shift, review the next day’s assignments and prepare all necessary rigging and equipment.
- Complete a Field Ticket and submit it to the local branch office; record any chargeable equipment used.
- Fill out the payroll book daily; report hours to the local branch office no later than 10:00 a.m. every Monday.
- When not on a job assignment, maintain productivity by inspecting, cleaning, and performing maintenance on equipment.
- Answer phone and pager calls promptly.
- Assist in training for safe crane operation.
- Periodically review assigned crane and other model manuals for service and operation.
- Keep the shop and yard clean, including washing the rack and break room.
- Read, interpret, and calculate load percentages using the crane’s load charts.
- Program the crane’s computer properly and set up the crane safely and professionally.
- Ensure the signal person understands and performs proper hand signals before lifting a load.
- Apply proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting.
- Inspect the crane, truck, or trailer and submit a vehicle inspection report to the local branch office before operating.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current state‑issued Commercial Driver License (CDL).
- Current crane operating license (NCCCO or NCCER).
- Minimum of 3 years operating hydraulic cranes.
- Ability to operate a crane by viewing hand signals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, safety regulations, and maintain records.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
