Company overview:

CDL Utilities has an immediate need for a skilled and reliable Construction Laborer in Fort Worth. We are looking for a hard-working individual capable of working extended hours and occasionally on weekends for emergencies or special situations. The work is predominantly outdoors, and the candidate must be prepared to work in different weather conditions. We primarily work with local commercial clients, but some travel may be necessary.

Our ideal candidate has experience installing underground and aerial telephones, cable TV, and fiber optic drops to homes and businesses. However, we are willing to train the right individual.

Responsibilities:

Working in all phases of underground construction to install and maintain underground telecommunications or electrical cabling.
Hand digging using shovels and/or mechanical tools in an ergonomically safe manner.
Performing traffic control functions (e.g., placing traffic signals, directing traffic, etc.) under the direction of a Crew Leader.
Ensuring equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly.
Maintaining safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
This position requires regular travel, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed are essential.

Qualifications:

Must have 1-4 years in Construction.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be able to pass drug, criminal, and background checks.
Ability to communicate effectively with Crew Leaders, customers, employees, etc.
Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience digging trenches, potholing, and working with concrete and asphalt
Prior experience in the utility construction industry or related construction fields.
Ability to speak and read both English and Spanish.
Aptitude to lead, take initiative, and have good communication skills.
Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities.

Physical Requirements:

Position is very active and will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, etc.
Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and hardhat.
Must lift/carry 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
Capacity to work in adverse weather and driving conditions.
General labor positions may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, remove waste materials, carry materials and supplies from trucks to the job site so they are ready for installation or other tasks as assigned.
Able to work as needed (overtime, after hours, on weekends for emergencies, or on-call) and in all weather conditions.
Have reliable transportation to and from.
