Position: Service Technician II / Equipment Mechanic
Job Description

Job Description

We are a growing, family-owned construction equipment dealer and service center serving the Dallas–Fort Worth area. We are looking for a mid-level Service Technician / Equipment Mechanic with solid mechanical and diesel-engine fundamentals who can diagnose problems, perform repairs, and become productive quickly in our shop.

You should already be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical equipment and engines. You do not, however, need previous experience with every type or brand of construction equipment we service. Technicians coming from diesel trucks, heavy equipment, forklifts, agricultural equipment, generators, rental equipment, industrial equipment, or similar mechanical backgrounds may be a strong fit.

What You'll Work On

Our technicians work on a wide variety of equipment rather than performing the same repair every day, including:

  • Diesel and gasoline engines
  • Trench rollers and ride-on rollers
  • Towable and portable air compressors
  • Generators and light towers
  • Plate compactors and rammers
  • Pumps
  • Concrete saws and trowels
  • Other light and medium construction equipment

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose equipment problems rather than simply replacing parts
  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, fuel systems, starting and charging systems, and mechanical failures
  • Perform maintenance and mechanical repairs
  • Identify failed components and determine the appropriate repair
  • Use service manuals, wiring diagrams, parts diagrams and manufacturer technical information
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation
  • Document diagnoses, repairs performed and parts required
  • Work independently on familiar repairs and collaborate with senior technicians on more complex problems
  • Learn the specific equipment, manufacturers and systems used in our industry.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Solid understanding of diesel-engine fundamentals
  • Hands-on mechanical repair and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems logically instead of relying only on parts replacement
  • Understanding of fuel, cooling, starting and charging systems
  • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read and follow service manuals and technical information
  • Ability to work independently on common repairs
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly
  • Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a small service team
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred — but not required:

  • Hydraulic-system troubleshooting or repair experience
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Construction or heavy-equipment experience
  • Experience with generators, compressors or mobile equipment
  • Experience reading wiring or hydraulic schematics
  • Experience with Kubota, Kohler, Honda or similar industrial engines

You do not need previous experience with every machine we service. We are interested in experienced mechanics with strong fundamentals who can transfer those skills to new types of equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

We are a small, growing company where skilled technicians have a direct impact on the business and where good work gets noticed.

  • $30–$35/hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill
  • Stable Monday–Friday work schedule
  • Paid Time Off.
  • Predictable hours
  • After one year of employment, technicians become eligible for a quarterly profit-sharing and performance bonus program
  • Small-team work environment where strong performance is recognized
  • Hands-on exposure to many manufacturers and equipment types
  • Direct manufacturer training as needed to support the equipment, engines, and systems you work on
  • Opportunity for qualified technicians to grow into field service work as they demonstrate strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently

If you are already a capable mechanic and want to broaden your skills beyond one type of truck, vehicle or machine, we would like to hear from you.
