Position Description
Coordinates and schedules equipment, materials, and personnel for special transportation jobs and activities. Leads the work of specialized maintenance and/or technical workers. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as needed basis. Work requires extensive contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
- Assists in preparing and giving presentations to the public regarding area of responsibility.
- Assists in scheduling equipment, material and personnel necessary for a project.
- Assists in the procurement and payment of specialized contractors for specific incident clean up and removal.
- Ensures projects follow established safety guidelines.
- Ensures vehicles are properly equipped and maintained.
- Inspects road conditions, work-in-progress and work completed by the crews and contractors.
- Operates light and heavy roadway equipment.
- Performs some administrative duties such as maintaining records on materials, supplies and personnel
- Trains employees on the use of equipment and procedures.
- Coordinates scheduling of equipment, materials, and personnel necessary for a project.
- Coordinates inventory and distribution of personal protective equipment, monthly safety related inspections, and completes safety incident related reports.

- High School Grad or Equivalent in general education
Work Experience5 YEARS in Roadway maintenance, construction, traffic systems management, or related work (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of application with 120 days to obtain "N" endorsement.
