The Comin’ Up Gang Intervention Program serves at-risk and gang-involved youth between the ages of 12-18 years in Fort Worth communities. Comin' Up Program provides needs-based services and activities in efforts to reduce gang violence and influence positive change.

Description

The Comin’ Up Gang Intervention Program serves at-risk and gang-involved youth between the ages of 12-18 years in Fort Worth communities. Comin' Up Program provides needs-based services and activities in efforts to reduce gang violence and influence positive change.

The Comin Up Outreach Specialist, under the supervision of the Comin Up Program Site Director, is responsible for recruitment, participation, programming, administrative duties, facility, and child safety. Duties include but are not limited to recruitment, outreach services, promoting site participation, programming, quality programming, early intervention, and actively participating on multi-disciplinary teams. Responsible for documenting all services, being accountable for safety at the assigned site, and being a positive role model.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Accountable for recruitment and outreach services to existing and potential members
Participation

  • Accountable for promoting site participation
Comin' Up Programming

  • Accountable for assigned programming and activities
  • Accountable for quality programming and activities
  • Accountable for early intervention and intervention programming and activities
  • Actively participate on multi-disciplinary team
Administrative Duties

  • Document all services and contacts
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports and data entry
Administrative Compliance

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting
  • Ensure accuracy of data and reporting
  • Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with at risk youth and/or gang involved youth
  • Experience working in a social service setting and/or providing social services


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work regular program hours which includes day, evening and night hours with periodic weekends (required night programming hours are 7:00pm – 11:00pm Monday – Friday)
  • Ability to be patient with youth and adults
  • Ability to connect with others quickly; ability to establish rapport and build relationships
  • Ability to persuade, influence, and motivate others into action
  • Ability to work with at-risk youth
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and have good judgment
  • Knowledge of local communities and /or community resources
  • Knowledge of problems and barriers at-risk youth face
  • Must be a team player, willing to collaborate and make team decisions
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle and company vehicle. Candidate must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under company insurance the requirement is for the employee to be a minimum of age 21


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual
  • Experience with recruitment and/or outreach
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage
