Overview
The Lockheed Martin AI Factory Apps team within Enterprise Operations is seeking an AI software engineer to support our strong Dev Sec Ops culture. Our skilled engineers have discipline and domain specific experience and training, best in industry software development practices and patterns, and cutting‑edge tools for software design, development, configuration management, quality, security, and deployment. The selected candidate will possess a balance of foundational software development skills and familiarity with emerging AI technologies.
This position is focused on developing and maintaining AI utilities and tools that can be integrated into Microsoft Office applications for all LM employees and on supporting the Lockheed Martin AI Factory. The selected candidate will be a key technical resource on a team with other AI software engineers.
- Successful development, testing, deployment and maintenance of AI‑enabled applications, incorporating agile and Dev Ops methodologies and concepts.
- Experience developing desktop applications for Windows and Mac OS environments that will be used by thousands of LM employees.
- Ability to provide support to users experiencing abnormalities, as well as the ability to analyze user feedback and bug reports to implement fixes.
- Periodic travel to Lockheed Martin sites may be required, as well as the ability to work in a virtual environment.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/Type Script, or Go.
- Familiarity with APIs and web services.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline automation, for example Gitlab CI.
- Full‑stack development experience preferably utilizing Dev Ops practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment and willingness to operate in an interactive local and virtual team environment using pair programming and test‑driven development processes.
- Experience with AI client frameworks.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM integration.
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol).
- Familiarity with Electron.
- Strong foundation in UI/UX experience and front‑end/web development.
- Previous exposure to AI application development or chatbot/agent building.
- Experience with prototype development or rapid iterations.
- Understanding of AI governance and responsible AI practices.
- Experience authoring documentation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and adapt to the fast‑evolving AI landscape.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Annual base salary range (California, Massachusetts, New York): $125,100 – $216,890. (Other states: $108,800 – $191,820.) Notes:
Salary reflects responsibilities, experience, education, market conditions.
