Senior Engineer

Our client, a major U.S. airline, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Servicing Technology team. It's a 6 month contract with potential to extend, hybrid in Fort Worth, TX, onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays and remote Mondays and Fridays, and they're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. This person will build and support Java/Spring Boot microservices that run in the cloud, design and maintain REST APIs used across teams, troubleshoot issues and lead root cause analysis, and help coach junior engineers.

We're looking for a senior backend engineer with 7+ years of hands-on development who is actively coding today and has built, deployed, and supported Spring Boot microservices on AWS or Azure themselves, which is the key differentiator for this role. Experience limited to monolithic applications, primarily front-end development, or recent roles focused on architecture or management without hands-on coding is not a fit.

The interview includes an onsite coding exercise.

This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.

• Design, build, and enhance Java/Spring Boot microservices
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs used by other teams and applications
• Deploy and support services in AWS or Azure cloud environments
• Write, test, and document code according to team standards
• Troubleshoot production issues and lead root cause analysis
• Identify and address performance, scaling, and reliability issues
• Conduct code reviews and coach junior engineers
• Partner with security teams to build secure services
• Work in Agile sprints to deliver features with the squad

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience
• Strong Java development experience, currently coding in Java
• Hands-on experience building microservices with Spring Boot
• Experience designing and building REST APIs used by other teams or applications
• Hands-on experience deploying and supporting services on AWS or Azure
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues
• Able to work onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays in Fort Worth, TX

• Master's degree in a technical field
• Airline or travel industry experience
• Docker and Kubernetes (EKS or AKS)
• Kafka or other event-driven messaging
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
• CI/CD tools such as Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, or Jenkins
• Test automation with JUnit, Mockito, or Postman
• AWS or Azure certifications

• Hands-on builder who is comfortable writing code most of the week
• Strong debugging skills and stays calm working through production issues
• Delivers high quality, well-tested code and meets deadlines
• Explains technical decisions clearly to engineers and leadership
• Willing to mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing
• Takes ownership of services from design through production

• Pay Range:
  The approximate pay range for this position is between $39.00and $56.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
