Who is North River Midstream?

North River Midstream (North River) is one of North America's leading gas gathering and processing businesses on an exciting path of expansion and innovation that's not slowing down. We do energy differently.

  • We are a lean, agile, customer driven company with an asset base primarily located in the rich Montney reserves of Northeast British Columbia.
  • We have a proud and well-earned reputation for safe, reliable operations.
  • We've made real commitments to measurable emission reductions and sustainability, and our results back this up.
  • We have a verifiable track record of meaningful indigenous partnership founded on mutual respect.
  • Our culture is one of partnership, collaboration, ownership and an unwavering commitment to finding solutions together.

Why work for us?

  • We're a team that cares about each other. We've got each other's back.
  • We believe that the best ideas win, no matter where they come from.
  • We're the perfect size - lean and agile.

We’re looking for a Land & Indigenous Relations Summer Student to join our all-star team. We’re looking for:

  • A people person: We need someone who’s a natural when it comes to building relationships—whether it's with customers, teammates, or anyone else you work with. You know how to connect, listen, and make people feel heard, especially when things get tough.
  • Flexible mindset: You’re curious and flexible - the Swiss Army knife of capabilities. You thrive in situations where there isn’t always a playbook and love coming up with creative ways to tackle challenges.
  • A collaborative self-starter: You thrive in team settings, actively contributing to group objectives and supporting colleagues, yet are equally capable of taking initiative and delivering high-quality work independently.
  • An effective communicator: You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences. You adapt your messaging to suit the context, ensuring understanding and alignment among team members, stakeholders, and clients.

What you’ll do:

Here is a sample of what your workdays may look like:

  • Update and maintain land records, identifying gaps in property and land use data.
  • Assist with stakeholder notifications on operations and capital projects.
  • Serve as a resource for filing information for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to improving business processes and procedures.
  • Assist with processing payments to landowners and government bodies.
  • Support public awareness efforts by creating maps, packages, and mailouts.
  • Organize community data, including profiles and contact information.
  • Track and report on Indigenous spend and community engagements.
  • Help plan and support community events and investments.
  • Attend Indigenous and local community events, gaining valuable experience.

What we offer:

  • A culture of continuous learning and mentorship from the best in the business (and fun!).

What you bring:

Required

  • Enrolled in a Lands, Surveyor, or other related program at a post-secondary institution.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

If this sounds like your next career adventure, we'd love to hear from you!
