Location: Dawson CreekCarmacks, in partnership with Peters Bros is looking to hire o hire a Project Lead Highway Construction & Materials for Highway North.
What is the role?
Reporting to the Dawson Creek General Manager, Highways Division, contributes to the goals and profits of the company by integrating the Project Management team. Building roads with primarily paving works. Work primarily with field Superintendent . This position is based in Dawson Creek, 50% in the office and 50% at site which is required to be often at the project during the production season.
Duties and responsibilities are:
Creation of Sales OrderReview cost to date and update budget monthlyConduct Budget review meetings with Construction Manager & SuperintendentConduct Various Meetings (Design, PM, Utility, Environmental, etc)Develop and update Project SchedulePrepare Monthly progress reportsOversee Project Quality Management SystemTrack and reconcile materials supplied and deliveredManage and track truck haul tickets and summarize using spreadsheetsMaintain daily and weekly inventory balances for pits, stockpiles, transfers, and job consumption.Reconcile scale tickets, haul sheets, and production logs; investigate discrepancies proactively.Coordinate with foremen, pit managers, and trucking to align physical counts with system balances.Prepare month-end inventory roll-forwards and variance explanations for Finance.Track material quality documentation (QC results, gradations) aligned to usage and pay items.Assist Accounts payable with invoicing
Ensures timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentationHelp the Project Manager prepare progress reports and invoices for work completedAssist in the estimating process by evaluating bid specifications and drawings to ensure that everything that is required for a successful bid is addressedObtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiates price. Follows up as required to ensure bids are receivedReview projects, analyzing and documenting estimated vs. actual costs, and the whole job – what was done, when, how, why. Use this data for estimating work/projectsReview contracts concerning insurance and bonding. Order bonding
Ensure timely and accurate communication of all information/documentationIdentify and implement efficiencies, process improvements and ways to save moneyUsing the company ERP: SAPWhat do we value?
Entry level requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor degree or Relevant industry experienceStrong understanding of construction methods, contracts, and project coordination processes.Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, including grading, paving, and utilities.Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and ExcelMinimum Class 5 Drivers license with a clean abstractPreferred:
Experience working with contractors on municipal or highway projects.
Knowledge of ERP: SAPFamiliarity with local regulations and standards (e.g., provincial specifications).Experience with quantity tracking and cost control systems.Working Conditions:
Combination of office and field work environments.Travel to project sites may be required.Living out allowance (LOA) is provided when working remote.Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment with changing priorities.Salary range is between $100,000-$140,000/yr, depending on qualifications and experiences.What's in it for you?
