Position Summary
We are seeking a registered Dental Hygienist to provide dental health prevention and promotion services for communities and populations in the Northern Health region. Reporting to the Program Lead, the role aligns with the vision and values of the organization and practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics outlined by the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical dental services, including initial and ongoing client assessments, diagnostic reasoning, and appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver education and training to clients and community members in one‑on‑one and group settings.
- Integrate best practice and current research evidence into skilled practice decisions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, and computer communication means.
- Apply conflict resolution and critical‑thinking skills to evaluate data and make decisions.
- Promote client‑focused, culturally sensitive care and advocate for social justice concerns.
- Organize work, set objectives, establish priorities, manage time and resources, and collaborate across disciplines.
- Support team morale, engagement, and empowerment through leadership and innovation.
- Use electronic documentation systems, Windows‑based programs, and data analysis tools; operate dental equipment and other required devices.
- Travel to surrounding communities to provide clinical service as required.
- Diploma or degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene.
- Current registration and licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in British Columbia.
- Minimum one year of recent, related dental hygiene experience, preferably in a community health organization or equivalent working with children, youth, and families.
- Valid BC driver’s licence and personal vehicle for business use.
- Assessment and treatment planning.
- Teaching and knowledge integration.

- Organizational and management skills.
- Leadership and teamwork.
- Computer and data analysis proficiency.
