Position: University Arts & Sciences Instructor - Health Sciences 100 Labs (26:007)

Term of App't: March 7 - 28.26 (total of 42 hours)

Start Date: March 2026

Reporting to: Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs

Salary

Salary: $50.07 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications, as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay period. Staff in this division may opt to enroll in the College Pension Plan with contributions being matched by the employer.

Description: NLC requires a sessional instructor to teach the lab portions of HSCI 100:
Introduction to Health Sciences

, to be taught on the FSJ campus. In addition to the class hours, there is prep time included.

The tentative Dates are March 7, 14, 21 & 28, from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. The expected dates and times will be confirmed with the successful candidate based on course planning and student numbers, with the possibility of revisions to Saturdays in February or April.

Health Sciences 100:
Introduction to Health Sciences
is designed for students considering a career in health care and is particularly intended for individuals who are preparing for UNBC's new Northern Baccalaureate Nursing Program.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a Masters' Degree in Nursing or in a related field; alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience in nursing.
  • One North American post-secondary degree, preferably the terminal degree.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Nursing.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
