Position: Dawson Creek Secondary School requires a 1.0 FTE TERM Teacher
Location: Dawson Creek

Dawson Creek Secondary School – Term Teacher (1.0 FTE)

Effective January 5, 2026 to June 30, 2026 or until the return of incumbent, whichever comes first.

Position is at Central Campus.

Subjects:
Science 9, Power Tech 8-9, Media and Coding 8.

Welcome to the Coyotes! Dawson Creek Secondary School – Central Campus serves approximately 400 students in Grades 8 and 9. We foster a collaborative environment where teaching teams support one another, focus on students as individuals, and grow as a learning community. Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
  • Successful K-12 teacher training and practicum or evaluation documentation
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

  • Experience with adapting, and modifying, curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviours
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals
  • Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team
  • Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
  • Experience teaching in a multiage group setting
  • Engages in fair, student focused assessment practices consistent with the BC curriculum and reporting order, and reflects on evidence of learning to guide instruction
Benefits in Working for School District No. 59
  • Relocation Allowance:
    Up to $5,000 for out of district applicants (with submission of approved receipts)
  • Northern Travel Allowance:
    Up to $4,000 of salary paid to the employee shall be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit, prorated proportionate to hours worked
  • Remote and Rural Allowance:
    Teachers working in School District No. 59 are eligible to receive an annual allowance of approximately $3,035 per FTE. Teachers on call (TOCs) are not eligible to receive this allowance
